What Would HRM Do When the Robots Start Dominating at Workplace

Definition of Robots

”A reprogrammable, multifunctional manipulator designed to move material, parts, tools, or specialized devices through various programmed motions for the performance of a variety of tasks.” (Robot Institute of America, 1979)

The TV series called Night Rider in 1982 indicated that a car can talk and driver by itself without human intervention. People were glued to TVs and start think is this the future is going to be whilst some others were arguing it’s a fiction by creating an illusion in human mind.

It has not taken many years to become that a reality in common day context as most of the car makers are building automated and auto driven cars. Laws been drawn to tables to discuss the legislations of legalities to produce driver-less cars by 2021.

The imagination of in history is becoming a reality in the future.

How Destructive is the Appearance of Robots to Corporate Environment?

Entry of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in to workplace have being aggressive since recent years and indicates significant increment on involvement on year by year. Researches by Oxford University believes that 47% of all jobs can be completely taken over by Robots within next 17 years.

Which means that the existing working cohort needs their skills being sharpened to win the challenges ahead them.

What would happen to HR Affiliation if the HR Process get Automated?

The impact is to see which HR practices to get automated and how that will impact the overall business.

e.g. Robotic automation will take only 48 hrs to go through 72,000 candidates’ documents which will consume 10 individuals involvement for two months. It's evident that the robots will do an effective job.

Further, remuneration, recruitment, training and development areas also to be evolved with AI interface which will test the skills of existing employees.

This indicate how badly AI will impact even the HR department. So, the AI intervention will barge into all departments whether we like it or not without an invitation.

HRM Diversification

The identification of true talent and defining important job roles requires the human intervention. Focusing on importance of technological involvement at workplace and to define the integration of AI and HI (Human Intelligence) which requires to adopt the change by educating employees.

What are the elements introduced by HR to take care of these modern trending?

Ensure staff motivation by engagement in order to secure best talent which organization is holding on to. Plan R&D for the employees who requires skill enhancement. Make awareness programmes on how the AI could increase the productivity and how employees should take it to count which will eliminate the unwanted fear on AI.

So, will the AI Create a Redundancy in Overall at Corporate Environment?

The anticipation was to create job redundancies when the industrial revolution took place. However, innovation and technologies evolved generating new job opportunities and led the industries to different dimensions by opening new ventures.

Yes, there were job retrenching took place by bringing employees to difficulties. The job availability did not stagnate, instead it grew up in vast capacities.

  1. Airbus SE is looking to develop autonomous aircraft and technologies that will allow a single pilot to operate commercial jetliners, helping cut costs for carriers. This is also part of robots operating flights in future. Already driver-less cars and trucks are in operation. What ever technological advancement may take place but human being develops and make this happen. In this context HRM will remain even at-least to control the robots. If the robots are developed to supersede humans, then there will be a day where not only HRM but all humans in this world too will no longer live or controlled by robots.

  2. Human Resource have been experiencing significant changes in this decade. However we didn't believe that the Artificial Intelligence can manage the work force and able to make HR Plans, Recruitment, Performance Analysis and training. What would Human Resources do? I think there will be a conflict among Artificial Intelligence and Human Intelligence in these fields.
